Whitey
John White (Whitey) hails from Perth, Australia. He learned to sail as he backpacked his way through the South Pacific in his youth. His initial 10 years in San Francisco were kept busy as he raced his boats (Santana 20 and Ericson 35) as well as extensive big boat racing on SF Bay and offshore Mexico races.
Once he met his future wife, Max, he was ready to give up the racing life and get cruising. After cruising from California to Mexico and on to the Caribbean, he and his wife operated their own charter boat throughout the Caribbean.
Whitey has a RYA Offshore Unlimited Certification and is a PADI Dive Instructor. Whitey has been the Manager at Glen Cove Marina for the past 3 years. He and Max will sail out the Golden Gate again in October, 2008, this time on their Beneteau 463.
Max
Maxine White didn�t begin her boating life until the age of 27 when she met her husband, Whitey. Now she has cruised from California and Mexico to Panama and on to visit most islands and countries in the Caribbean.
She and her husband spent 10 years chartering throughout the Caribbean. The past 3 years she has been employed by Glen Cove Marina as Harbor Master.
Max, a PADI Dive Master, will set sail with Whitey for distant waters again, when they leave for Mexico in October, 2008. Max is a PADI Dive Master.

Jeanne
Jeanne, our Treasurer, works as a Supervisor, Patient Safety Programs for The Doctors Company.
She has been involved in civic activities such as an adult literacy tutor for the Vallejo Library, Secretary and Bridge Officer for the Carquinez Power & Sail Squaddron, and presently a Member of the Board of Directors for the Vallejo Symphony Organization.
Jeanne had her own accounting and secretarial business for many years with several small business entities.
She is also acting as our interim Secretary.
Jay
Jay is a California native living essentially his entire life in the Bay Area. He has been sailing for 30 years in the Bay, Delta, and the Northern California coast. He wishes to leave the Gate and turn left, but for now he can be found on "Fantasy" his live-aboard Freedom 40.
He has served in the U.S. Marines, was a professional guitar musician, and a retired Police Capitan from the City of Antioch. He is now retired and can be seen prowling the Glen Cove docks.

Gregory
Gregory and Patricia, his wife, have been into boating for over twenty years starting in The Bay; racing a two person dinghy and a 33 foot Yamaha sloop. Several years ago they left the Gate for a three year cruising stint 'out there'.
Greg came back to the Bay Area to pursue his medical profession presently acting as a Medical Director for a local Community Clinic.
